For example, an average operating range of a steam boiler may be 240 to 250 psi. When the steam pressure in the boiler drops 10 psi, the boiler will start up automatically.

A Honeywell Pressuretrol Controller is a device that monitors the pressure in a boiler. The Pressuretrol Controller will turn the boiler system off once the pressure within the boiler reaches a certain pressure. Nov 24, 2013 · I scanned the manual and found that your boiler did not require that second P.T.(high limit). It is only for boilers 63-09 through 63-12. It's strange that someone would add that if not needed. Since it wasn't required it didn't come with the boiler which means they had to buy it and so did you.

Thinking that maybe the vaporstat was a bad unit, I went and got a brand new 404A pressuretrol to see what would happen. Set the cut in at .5 psi, and the differential wheel set at 1. The result: the pressure kicks off at 2 PSI, drops all the way to zero, wait a minute, main vent breaks the vacuum, wait a minute, boiler kicks in. Here we go again.

I am having a similar issue with my boiler. I have a one-pipe steam system, a Burnham Independence boiler about 10 yrs old. I have the grey Honeywell pressuretrol and it is set for 0.5 cut in and a 1 Diff. However, when the system is running, the pressure gauge is showing 5 PSI.

My boiler typically runs at 7.2 oz. in a normal cycle but when it's below zero outside and I want to raise the indoor temp a couple degrees, to have it cut-out on pressure at 1.5 lbs (where I have it set) instead of it running all the way up to 3 lbs before the Pressuretrol cuts out is a big first step to getting things right.

Vaporstat Hi- Vaporstats allow you to operate your system at very low pressures. Most vapor systems can operate at ounces of pressure. A Pressuretrol's accuracy gets a bit "funky" at very low pressures so that the reason most people with two pipe or especially vapor systems go to Vaporstats.
